My Kin

That is hilarious human.

You are expecting me to do as you say. Don’t make me laugh. I am my own creature. There is a reason I steer clear of you. Any animal knows you are not to be trusted.

I see your dog breeds always doing as they are told. Cats! They have the right idea. Staying true to themselves; unless you feed them. Sometimes, I move close to your homes, in the hope you have left a tasty morsel or two.

My kin have narrated stories to me. Chasing us with your Beagles. So brave on your enormous horses! We have lost so many because you cannot let nature be. We hunt to survive. Our species, never taking more than we need.

The same cannot be said for you.

Our habitats dwindling because you want to improve your living conditions. Factories, belching out toxic fumes. Cars crashing down country lanes. Picnic areas, and the only benefit to your rubbish, is the bits you leave behind.

This is hilarious human …

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Love it. But I do have beagles. They don’t chase much but dog treats. Their history is a different story. They have very good sniffers, and work together to canvass an area. I’ve taken them for a walk on a winter day and watched them follow hare tracks in the snow perfectly, getting more and more excited, until a rabbit bounces out of the sagebrush.
