The store offers everything or 99 cents or fewer. It used to be like that, but now it just means good value. Stephanie wondered if she could sue the company. Clearly, when you stepped in, the cost of the items was more than that.

Although, it was still in her price range You could buy for less than going to the big retail companies, so she had no real reason to complain. Only trouble was she only had a dollar, and wasn’t sure what she could get for her dad’s birthday.

Inside, she scanned the aisles for a suitable gift. Then she saw it; a glass with Dad on the front. That would be brilliant. A drink of squash, and we never be thirsty again. As a present, it was there with the best.

She barely fit over the counter as she handed over the cash. ‘Keep the change.’

The server smiled at the little girl.

  3. Lovely story Diana. Reminds me of buying a pair of dancing shoes for my Mum at a jumble sale for sixpence. I was about 6. She wore them every time they went out and dancing might be involved as they were the most comfortable shoes she had ever owned.
