Holidays

Growing up, I recall holidays with my parents.

Mum used to go to Bingo, never wanting to stay sat in a deckchair for long. My dad would sit and read his paper, while I made my sandcastles. Moving back and forth towards the sea, the water gently touching my toes.

We regularly stayed in a guest house; Mum didn’t want to do any cooking, as she was a dinner lady.

The loan of a holiday, where we could drink horlicks or a strawberry milkshake, instead of going to school or work. We would spend hours walking, or visiting a zoo. We enjoyed various shows including Lulu, a wrestling match, and a dolphin display.

Now I do the same with my family.

The Isle of White is my favourite place to visit; there is a sense of relaxation there. We pack suitcases, dogs, family into our car and take a break.

I can’t wait till our next holiday.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
