The whole pond came up with the idea to construct a bridge out of turtles. They made the decision that Charlie, finding home without getting her feathers wet, was of greater importance. From the time she was a chick, slime on her webbed feet caused hives. Instead of swimming, she waddled the long way round.

Although, Taylor Turtle had a plan. Diving deep into the murky depths, she crashed into the water with a resounding splash.

While swimming, her legs kicked until its power dwindled to a quiet ripple. What scared her? A silly fear of nothing. The oil swiftly shed the dirt on her tail feather and her underbelly shimmered. Underneath the murky water her prey swam in and out of jade reeds.

All this exercise and her stomach rumbled like thunder.

‘Here’s a fish for your troubles,’ Doug said. ‘Could you help a mallard with a bread addiction?’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
