Horizon

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the carousel at the long abandoned amusement park spun on its own, beckoning me to step aboard.

I reached towards an elegantly dressed horse with a rainbow ribbon. Its gentle music luring me forward, I climbed onto to his beautiful back, humming to the tune of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

A tender, guiding hand gave me pause.

Safe, in the embrace of a forgotten feeling.

Travelling towards the blue sky, I held on to the pole, ready for my next adventure. The coolness beneath my hands spread to my fingertips until the breeze of whispered wish flourished. The power of love swelled, that, and so much more. For the first time, I experienced a hopeful future.

Fear faltered, and my problems disappeared in a haze of song.

I woke up, with a fresh song to sing.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
