I took the picture, and you were wearing

a slanted smile. The light behind your eyes,

fell into a shallow shadow, seeming to say,

this moment in time isn’t real.

I lowered my camera and enveloped your

trembling hands. We spoke, you shared,

we crawled through your fears,

and I understood.
