Sparkle

Adapting to life can be difficult, but being kind to yourself is important. As children, we mess up, and understand that it is fine. As grown-ups, we tend to be tougher on ourselves.

Like we are not allowed the same advice.

Parents think they are not perfect, but they don’t wish for that. They hope to be protected and loved. Taking on the role entails putting their needs first. Even when they are older, you desire the best for them.

When it doesn’t happen, we all have the ability to feel guilt.

All I know is that being a mum is more than money, it is holding their hand when they are afraid, or telling them you love them. All those memories of sharing a smile, reading a book, or pushing them on a swing. I love watching Bluey with my granddaughter, and that is a stronger force than fear.

We adapt, because our real strength is taught by those who believed our ability to sparkle.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
