‘This is no ordinary book,’ the proprietor of the used bookstore said.

‘Why?‘ Jeremy asked, turning it over to find a connector, similar to his I pad.

‘When you open it, the words create a picture in your mind. Read that first sentence and see where your imagination takes you.’

He opened the cover with an image of Harry Potter and ran his fingers along the text. ‘‘I should have known you would be here, Professor McGonagall.’’ He closed his eyes, and he saw the opening scene of the movie, where she turned from a cat to a human.

Jeremy was silent and lifted his head once he got to the end of the page. ‘It’s magic.’

‘It is, and reading is fun, but you need to look at something you enjoy. I wouldn’t choose a story about football, because I am not a fan. I love detective books though.’

‘How much? I only have fifty pence.’

‘I’ll give you this for free. It belonged to my children.’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
