Ready To Sleep

Written for https://skepticskaddish.com/category/poetry/poetry-prompt/

Slowly, silently along the shore,

a wash of waves whispers, watching the sun

pause before drifting into a soft slumber. It slides out

of sight, ready to sleep. The moon meanders past a

sprinkle of stars. A shift shared, but, only for a moment.

Protecting the sleeping tide, a proud mother

shares light with the lost, guiding those without

hope. Dark clouds loom, but they don’t stand a chance.

There is strength in numbers, and a team of brightness

has a power all its own.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Thanks so much for participating, dear Diana. I love imagining what you imagine in this personification of such lovely ephemeral moment.

    Protecting…those without hope.”

It’s such a soothing world when seen with such tender eyes that see beyond what’s there. And to have these imaginings linger until you close your eyes for sleep makes for happy slumber. I just love it. Thanks dearly for drawing me into your window view. Lovely. Bless you.
