Out of Tune

I am so out of tune, when I am singing, my son once told me to stop with the nursery rhymes, as it hurt his ears (he is on the spectrum, so honesty is natural). At school, part of the choir, we sang in front of the pensioners, who thankfully were deaf. Although, my voice, high pitched, suited some hymns.

We should not to care about how we sound, but how joy increases with each note. Joining in to tunes from my childhood brings about happiness. Emotions spill, after listening to a song, which reminds us of loved ones.

A crier, songs will move me, or make me smile.

I sing mostly in the car. After a long day at work, or if I am stressed, engaging in this activity provides a break from stress.

Do I sing in front of others? Most of the time I will be at the back miming the words. The only time I was brave enough, many alcaholic drinks, to give me courage, took me to the stage. Deliliah, by Tom Jones and at least I created laughter for my family.

I will carry on singing because music creates memories of family and friends.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Fun times with family! Years ago whenever I went to see my dad we used to go to at least one night of karaoke. I always got up to sing. The older people sang songs that would bring tears to your eyes. I sang songs like “Baby Got Back” and “Goodbye Earl”!
