When I was a child, November brought a chill to the atmosphere.

Now it seems like the weather is changing.

I work in a school, and the pupils are being taught that climate change isn’t all our fault, but we are speeding it up by our actions. The pollution we have caused since the industrial revolution is responsible.

The good thing is we are learning; solar panels, wind turbines and hydropower.

When my grandchildren grow up, I want them to be able to enjoy our earth.

It wasn’t always perfect, I remember going to London to visit friends and relatives, and the lack of oxygen making it hurt to breathe. In my Mum’s days, there were pea soupers, where it was dangerous to be outside.

It is clearer in 2024, and there is hope.

People are more aware of what needs to be done, and advancements help our efforts to reverse some of the damage. The more students learn, the more they can create another technology to keep us safe.

      1. Over the past year, there have been multiple instances of natural disasters which has claimed a lot of lives. Most were long-term direct consequences of man-made activities. I hope it gets better too, Diana.
