Bestie

We bonded over our first morning at secondary school.

I remember you sitting on the fence, and found courage to speak to a stranger.

You smiled as I crept over and introduced myself. I half expected a go away, and some sort of insult, but you grinned, and told me your name too.

Theresa; confident, brave, and everything I was not.

After forty-six years, we might not see each other every day (an ocean between us) but our friendship remains strong-thank you bestie, I never regret introducing myself to you.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
