Sands of Time

Written for https://weeklyprompts.com/2024/11/30/weekly-prompts-the-one-day-prompt-8/

A child like hope

rushing like a river into the future,

desperate for each birthday to fly free,

hoping to reach ten, eleven, twelve.

Live each precious day at a time

mum advised

When sands searched into the future

hope for the sands of time to slow,

thankful for reaching that milestone age,

Mum, I should have listened more closely,

One day at a time, sweet Jesus,

her favourite song sings

the truth.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
