Naturally

Earning respect isn’t something we naturally think of when speaking about teenagers. It is easy to be in the mindset because we are adults; we know best. That is not always right. I don’t have all the answers, but have learnt we need to treat them as human beings first.

I find, if someone shows me politeness, I am more likely to be understanding with them.

Sometimes it is difficult, especially when we do not receive the same kindness, but keeping calm when they are not, does help. We were youths once, and have some understanding of how difficult life is.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Wise words. I have found it is in my interest to befriend and respect people of a variety of ages – it gives me more perspective and opens me up to learning and trying to be a better person.

  2. You are so right, Diana. I think the world today is so very challenging in a different way since we were growing up. One thing hasn’t changed, the need for patience.
