Lily pitched for the perfect birthday party.

‘I want a princess Minecraft, with a cake with Steve on it, and lots of pink pig balloons, and to share it with my bestest friend,’ she said, her instructions written in purple crayon. I have been a good girl, and tidied up my room.’

Her mum stared at the selection of toys scattered around like a miniature hurricane had spun out of control and destroyed everything it touched. Each forgotten when her mind wanted to look at something else. Yet she couldn’t really say no when her five-year-old had drawn numerous hearts and kisses at the bottom of a well created note.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
