Tempting

Tempting out words from our minds to flow like careful meanderings on to a blank page. Sometimes it is nothing but scrawl. What about the magic? Our mind untangles every journey until the character jumps out and, like Frankenstein, it is alive. Perfect? Never that, but another form of humanity. Ask them questions. What do they prefer for breakfast? What brings them joy? Who makes them cry?

It’s why I love this craft.

I understand; people’s eyes glaze over when you mention you are a writer. What a lovely hobby. Only they don’t grasp it is more than that. Like breathing, we wake up with ideas which need to find a happy place.

We are all authors here.

Whether it is poetry, short stories, or an input on the world. It is important we have a safe place to write.

So tempt out those thoughts, fill those empty spaces with amazing words.

Don’t be afraid; you are a writer.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. You are so right. Initially, it’s about finding the confidence to go public. Next, it’s realising it doesn’t matter whether it’s three lines or a whole page, you’ve made a start at scratching the itch! Thank you for sharing this with our challenge. 🙂
