As a girl, my hair was always straight, ong, and the only way to get a curl into it was to have a perm. I remember sitting in my sister’s kitchen with the solution, which smelled like it was going to burn through my skin, pasted on my scalp. Waiting for a couple of hours, wearing pink curlers doused in this acidic liquid, I could be in fashion.
I preferred my regular hairstyle.
Since aging, it has curled at the ends; when it grows past my shoulders.
Having short hair is easier to keep tidy. When I go to work, I am required to only brush my silver strands. People pay good money for grey highlights. Mine cost nothing but time. One of the many benefits of getting older.
Both my daughter, and granddaughter, when they were little had the same long hair. I remember my mum was told off by her mum, because she cut hers short. Do I regret cutting mine as a teenager? Probably. It never was quite the same afterwards. Although, now, having short hair is easier to keep tidy for work.
Especially in this heat, short is best.
My Mom has naturally curly hair. Mine is wavy. A most unusual thing happened when she was pregnant with me. Here hair went fully straight! I’ve seen pictures. Her hormonal changes did that. In time, her curly hair returned.

I think that’s what happened to me, but in the opposite. Straight to curley.

I remember my mom perming her hair when I was young. That smell is unforgettable. I keep my hair shoulder length after an unfortunate haircut in my middle school years that proved I was not built for those cute short cuts. I’m never without a hair clip in the summer, though, because having hair on my neck in this heat is the surest way to feel like I’m bursting into flames. 🙂

I had back length hair up until I was in fourteen. Short hair is easier for me.

Hi Diana, my hair was short for years when I worked as a spinning instructor teaching 10 classes a week. Now, it is quite long and I find it much easier long. I only have to wash it every four days and braid it when I want it out of the way.

as a girl, I kept my hair long. Wavy hair. Tangley hair. I always wished for straight hair like some of my friends. Now I keep it short most of the time. Bob short. Though at the moment, I’m wearing it a little longish… don’t know why and it doesnt bother me one bit so, I’m not even thinking about my hair. And it’s gray. Been in my greys since late teens. Oh well, I have never dyed my hair. but I had it straightened once. It didn’t work, I tell you. haha. Joke’s on me. Thanks for the post, Diana. Bet your hair is lovely. I say that because I like my grays too.

Thank you, I went grey in my late forties, and it doesn’t bother me any either.

I had wavy hair when I was in my teens, and later on it became curly. After a loved one passed away, my hair went straight. Now, it’s back to wavy, and I wear it long and in a ponytail.

I had hair down to my bum as a kid. Now, it is shoulder length, but I like a little length to it! I remember getting a perm, and loving having curly hair!
