The best fish and chips are those eaten at the seaside.
Crisp batter, soft cod, and chips cooked in oil. It is making me hungry; not the healthiest thing I could eat, but tasty all the same. It is the same with scones with cream and jam. Sitting in a cafe, eating fresh produce, with a cup of tea (or coffee) is a relaxing way to spend a morning.
In a few weeks, I am going to Devon, and I am looking forward to having more adventures like this.
There are countless memories of my parents during the holidays. Mum and Dad used to take me to buy me a strawberry milkshake; or a Horlicks (malt drink) at night. Our destination was Margate, in Kent. We stayed in a guest house (bed, breakfast and an evening meal). She worked in a school canteen and never intended to cook on holiday. To be fair, I wouldn’t have either.
We saw brilliant shows: Lulu, Rod Hull and Emu, and Charlie Drake. Perhaps my love of theatre stems from there? There was a theme park named Dreamland, where I watched wrestling. Not in any remote way the same as the American version. My mum was at the front with her handbag, arguing with anyone who cheated. Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Johnny Kwango, Mick McManus and many more.
We played prize bingo; You would get a token every time you won, and then at the end of the h buy something you required from a selection of prizes. Behind them were arcades, where you had fruit machines, and 80s retro games. Not that they would have been called that then.
Funny; I can remember fifty years ago, but not what I did last week.
happy memories so like mine! I can remember so many of these things, places sights and sounds 💜🤣

I have read that your long term memory improves as you get older. I find myself remembering a lot of things from my childhood lately. A delightful post, Diana.

Such lovely memories, Diana. Funny, I can remember my phone number from years ago, but not my password from yesterday.

I can’t remember my whole phone number just the start. I am the same with passwords, although I had one at an old work which was numbers and letters and I remembered it every time.
