Betty put the sack of washed potatoes in her cupboard.

She pulled out the largest two, and wrapped them in silver foil.

Two hours later, she covered them in melting butter, cheese, and a whole tin of baked beans.

Each large mouthful lingered quietly before its memory ordered her to take another bite. She washed down her meal with a hot mug of tea.

A bargain buy at thirty pence, she thought about making roast potatoes for dinner.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
