At the beginning of my authorship journey, I wrote everything by hand.
When I was eight, my parents brought me a pink, petite typewriter. My favourite television programme was Starsky and Hutch. I was a big fan of Paul Michael Glaser. After reading two books, I decided I could write my own and send them in to the BBC. The show stopped because he wanted to spend more time with his family, but I kept my handwritten stories.
I still have many notebooks filled with my first ideas.
A couple of years ago, I started using the computer, but I find I am trying to edit as I go along. I almost preferred my first draft in notebooks. They serve as a reminder that we don’t have to be perfect. Will I keep typing? Probably. But I would like to return to a blank page, with a pen, and allow my thoughts to flow without fear of not being good enough to be an author.
I love writing, and whatever I use, that won’t change.
Great post. I find you’ve summed up my glitch perfectly — I also catch myself editing as I write and I think sometimes that derails some of my thoughts. I don’t know that I can handwrite my work anymore, though, so I may have to make the computer thing work.

Yes, I agree. Although I love writing by hand, it is far more relaxing.

I love note books too! I’ve written most all my stories or essays by hand, then I type them when I want to for my blog. It does feel better to have the notebooks as back up in case my computer stuff goes missing. 🙂

Notebooks are perfect because they don’t need electricity to work.

I usually scribble on raggedy old pieces of pocket paper at work and then when I’m home I use my phone or computer. Keeping notes immortalise our progress, keep going. Awesome post!

Thank you, I have too many notebooks, and I should start writing in them.

There’s something about notebooks that is charming, the same is reading a real leather-bound book. Keep writing.
