Right Decision

‘I need to take more time for myself,’ Beth said.

She clenched her light suitcase, filled with two days’ worth of clothes, in shaking hands. It wasn’t his fault. Or hers. The choice to leave, to take a break from work, family life; not an easy one, but the right decision for them both.

The door arched open, and she kissed him on his pale cheeks; there was no promise to return; just that she would think about it.
