Bound beyond a brutal, self-doubt mist
unable to step out of the silent shadows
scared to make the first muddled move
hand hovers over traumatised keys
wondering if it is the right thing
to build bridges because of loneliness.
When human connection is lost, the heart refuses to give up.
Memories of a different time
where mobile phones weren’t
the only connection, where we
visited loved ones, to share our
commitment. Too easy to allow
algorithsms to send a message.
Better to call, even if you are afraid
and show that we thrive beyond metal.
When human connection is lost, the heart refuses to give up.
Veins pounding in the unknown
tapping the number, still not sure
the ringtone continues, each second
makes it difficult to stay. Family, friends
worth the effort. A familair voice says
hello, I love you, shall we meet?
When human connection is lost, the heart refuses to give up.

Self-doubt is a horrible thing. It stops us from seeing what is right there and good.
Nicely done.
