Grumpy Duck

We all have nicknames for our loved ones, whether they are a grandparent, parent, or child. Pop can sometimes be used for a grandad. My daughter called hers ‘gandad’.

When I was young, I watched Little House on the Prairie. The little girl, Laura, was called half-pint, and that is what my dad called me. There were many other things I was called, especially when I misbehaved.

Trouble being one of them, lol.

My granddaughter calls me Gary, Grannie or Grumpy Grannie. The first because she couldn’t pronounce her ‘‘r’s’’ when she was little, so I was Gary for a long time. I asked her a couple of years ago what grandparent I was out of ‘‘Bluey’’. Still waiting for series four, what can I say – it is an excellent program. She said I was Grumpy Grannie. I laughed at that. It is probably true. Now, I’m Rita, the one who keeps losing her coins.

My husband is and always will be, Grumpy.

Next year we are going to Disneyland Paris, and hope to get a picture of him with his spirit guide, Donald Duck. I am looking forward to going on holiday with my family.

Might need a bit of courage for the flight as I have not been on a plane before.
