Do not argue over me
there’s lots of shows you can see.
Comedy for light relief
Sad films, hankies for grief
I lie on your table
click my channel if you’re able.
When my rival takes the chair
Replace my batteries when I’m down
A green light is better than a frown
So, many shows, you cannot beat
Put up your feet, and take your seat.
Stay with me, I am strong
if a warm night in you long
From films, to documentaries
you can beat the winter freeze.
A great way to pass cold winters evenings 💓

The remote – so easily overlooked, but when you can’t find it all hell breaks loose 😃

Yes, although I’m lucky, we share the remote because my husband is deaf.

I think every family has some sort of remote rule! For the most part I recede and watch whatever is on!

Me too, if footie is on there is no choice. I write though, so I never mind.

That’s probably why I don’t mind, I usually have my laptop or my phone and blog or play a game while I’m watching.

The previous weekly prompt has made me so aware of internal rhyme, and how much I like it! This is my favourite line of yours today:Put up your feet, and take your seat.

Thank you, I also had that in my thoughts when writing the poem

I enjoyed this. The remote stays a remote throughout, and the tone keeps things light without drifting into sentimentality. It reads like a straightforward pitch from an object that knows its function and sticks to it: “here I am, this is what I do”.

Exactly, thank you ❤️

The remote is – remote! My husband hordes all three. But then again, like you, I am writing, composing, or reading… A lovely poem!

Thank you. My husband prefers the computer, as they are connected to his hearing aid, and gives a better quality of hearing. I watch programs but sometimes I am not watching, lol.

Nice, lovely poem. We take so many things for granted.

As Dennis says, you stick so well to the objective voice. Our remotes seem to drain batteries as soon as they’re changed – I’m forever pressing buttons and cursing because nothing happens!

Diana, “click my channel if you’re able” feels so spot-on to me — playful and cozy all at once.
