Sentenced – Debut Novel

I recently had the privilege of proofreading ‘‘Sentenced’’. A book written by a friend at Creative Minds; a writing group run by N. V. Peacock. M J Whelan self-published this week, and I would highly recommend this dramatic read. I am looking forward to receiving my signed copy when all my writer friends meet for our Christmas Quiz session on Thursday.

This is the blurb on Amazon

Liz’s world collapses when she learns the police have arrested her son and his partner.

Forced to make a quick decision, she takes in their three-year-old daughter, Freya – a grandchild she never knew she had.

As Liz learns to ease the child’s heartache, social workers raise questions about her demanding job and her commitment to Freya.

Inside HMP Graybarrows, Liz devotes her days to helping prisoners battle with fear, loss, and guilt. Her work gives her purpose – but when the boundaries between prison and home blur, can Liz find balance between the broken men behind bars and the little girl whose life has just begun?

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
