Artificial Intelligence

Written for https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2025/12/26/ai-is-here/

I am not a fan of artificial intelligence in writing stories. We should keep our own voice when penning poems, or a novel. Could it be created to correct grammar mistakes? Yes. I use ProWritingAid to check when my sentences need to be more varied, or where I have repeated a word more times than I realise. But to share a story and then pass it off as my own ideas, I would never do.

I would like to believe I can identify when someone has co written their post because it has no personality. Our experiences, albeit haphazard, spread into our words to make them authentic. Sometimes, especially in first person, it shows the way the author’s thoughts weave into making a character or scene real. Have you read something and thought it was too well written?

Whatever my opinion, AI is here, and will be used, I just hope it doesn’t replace us.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. My experiences with AI have not been great. It is very limited as a tool. I am not fearful of being replaced. I am more fearful that young people who think it makes life easier and relieves them of the effort of researching and reading are going to become more ignorant and humanity will starry going backwards.
