Don’t get me started; when a male neighbour mansplained how spikes work to go on my roof, to get rid of the pigeons on my roof (I have solar panels), it took all my effort not to say I understand how they work, while he explained where they went and how a fake owl would deter them from roosting.

Neither worked, and they are still there. They sit next to the owl, like they are old friends.

What I found helped was putting reflective surfaces on tiles.

My husband can be the same when he remembers something from when he was young, and even though I was there, insists I don’t have the same memories. That is unfair of me. I reckon I can be just as annoying when I insist I am right (although, more often than not, I am lol).

We have been married for thirty-eight years, and whatever our differences, we work together well because of it. I can handle telephone calls and any official letters, and he does the cooking and occasional grandparent duty.

However, it is more than that; we are each other’s support network.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
