Amy was transfixed to the chandelier hanging from the ceiling, its intricate glass tinkling. The wind whistling a tune of newness. She wondered if her job as a maid would allow her to see this beautiful creation.

‘Your job will be to clean the stairs each morning at five am sharp. I do not expect tardiness from my staff,’ the butler said.

‘No sir, I believe in hard work.’ She smiled at her own good luck.

‘Best not linger girl, you’ve your uniform to iron.’

‘Yes sir, no problem’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
