Pineapple on Pizza

Written for https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2026/05/04/share-your-world-4th-may-2026/

1.  What’s your favourite pizza topping? I hope I don’t offend any Italian people, but I love ham and pineapple pizza (A Italian ristorante served me one when I went to Sorrento). The fruit adds a sweet taste with the melted cheese and it is delicious.

2.  What is your favourite sandwich? Cheese and pickle was my favourite as a child, and I would still eat it, but my husband detests pickle and it goes to waste when it is only for one person.

3.  What is your favourite dessert? Treacle pudding with custard; It was my dad’s favourite, and I always shared his food as a child. I feel happy when I’ve eaten a large bowl of this tasty sweet treat.

4.  What food do you absolutely hate or would never try? I hate fishy fish like prawns. Although, I will eat them as prawn crackers or as a flavour in crisps.

Gratitude:

I am thankful I have enough to eat as a child. I might have moaned when Mum made fish pie, or a shepherd’s pie (mash, minced beef, with gravy and baked beans) She only ever used tinned mince, which looked like dog food in the tin. I understood the value of eating everything that was on my plate. I feel guilty, even now, when I leave something.

Many are not so lucky, and it is wrong in 2026 that children are going hungry and have to rely on food banks and free school meals. Across the world, with all the wars going on, it is the innocents that suffer the most.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. I so agree with your last paragraph Diana. It is wrong that kids are going hungry, despite some parents holding down two jobs to keep a roof over their heads.
I like ham and pineapple on my pizza, and you and Hubby would get on very well as he loves treacle pudding and custard. The Toby Carvery used to do that with a bottomless jug of custard, and as long as you had some pudding left, they would refill your jug. MIL got angry with him about it, so he just left a small portion and asked for a third helping…………. and got it!
    Thanks for sharing your world.

      1. The Harvester didn’t have so much choice for us, so we usually opted for a carvery. We are going to have one next week for my birthday and I’ve reserved a table in the dog friendly area so that we won’t be disappointed.
