Harold was looking forward to his first time away from the care home in months. He loved a bingo game, but Sheila cheated and won the best biscuits, besides a trip to the seaside was the best.
He held his cane close and climbed aboard the yellow bus. He made a bid for the back seat, just like he did when he was a boy. They could hide from the teachers, and eat as much as they liked.
He grinned as Alan sat next to him; with a cheeky wink he pulled out a whole pack of chocolate biscuits with his water bottle. The clear liquid filled right to the top.
‘Where did you get that?’
‘Nicked em off Sheila. It’s alright she’s got plenty and I thought we could do with a treat before we got to the museum. Old eagle eyes is at the front with the oldies that get sick, she won’t notice us.’
‘Course, but water don’t go well with chocolate.’
‘Water, Na, give it a taste.’
Harold took a sip, and smiled.
