Work

It would seem that Sam carried the world on her fragile shoulders. Yet, today wasn’t the day for fear.

She was not just someone, or that’s what her mother used to say. Being a sister and daughter meant everything to her. Positive worth was more than standing tall. The wind wandered without worrying, so why shouldn’t she. If she won at anything, it would be her kindness to other people. You can pretend to be firm, but children thrived when you showed you care.

Here, among those who loved her, her wound would heal. When she met a stranger, her mind would spiral. She wished she didn’t care what they thought of her; a vice would take control and push all her confidence into a shredded paper.

‘Alright?’ Clara asked.

‘Yea, the classroom is busier than I thought.’

‘Don’t worry, I was at your interview. They will love you.’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
