Hold

Where did you go to when you closed your eyes?

I hold your hand when time it dies

One last breath as you find a smile

Does he take you the extra mile?

I found the answer in a robin red

lingering near when I feel dread

My faith is like a favourite saying

Love is stronger when I am praying.

When it is my turn to transform my light

A terrifying time; I give up the fight

My angel guide – I see dad stroll

Please don’t grieve, he protects my soul.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. I like this deeply poignant, tender piece of verse, capturing the transition of grief, spirituality and the comfort found in the idea of a reunion beyond this world 🩷
