Be Proud

During my GCSE English course, in 2020, I needed to complete a speaking and listening pitch. I discussed why using mobile phones before bedtime is not advisable because it makes it difficult to fall asleep.

I was nervous because I hate speaking in public. It was only three minutes, but it felt like a lot more. I am proud that I got a merit for that part of the exam. I also passed with a level seven (A). In 2025, I passed my GCSE Maths with a level five, which is equivalent to a B grade.

It also helped me as a teaching assistant, and I am proud that I can support students who find these subjects hard. I would love to hear of something you are proud of.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Congrats on getting through that pitch. I am also not a fan of public speaking. I am very proud of Writober this year. I knew it was going to be a big challenge to get all the prompts and posts together while going through chemo, but I was determined to continue hosting my favorite yearly event. And I’m so glad I pushed through, because I’m having fun. The daily photo challenge gets me out of bed, dressed, and moving every day, and the poem and flash fiction story are keeping my mind active. 🎃
