A Universe of Theories

I stared at the ever expanding universe – it had been an interesting Science experiment, but the result wasn’t something I expected. My tutor told me to add just the right amount of electricity, but instead of creating a small explosion, something strange happened.

At first it was a bright light, no smaller than the tip of a pin, but something happened I couldn’t explain. Infinite seconds passed and small planets formed. I had only read about it in ‘The History of the Universe’. Now I created my own worlds.

It was like a world in a bottle, and the universe I created expanded until there were six planets in all. Bringing it all together was fire, so bright, I couldn’t look straight at it.

What surprised me was the life I was able to see on the planets. One was filled with water, and the atmosphere changed. Life, small at first changed into dinosaurs. The weather changed, they died. Soon they were replaced with a life I recognised. They were like us, but with a limited capacity for knowledge.

I can only watch when they make the same mistakes we did. There is a selfish part of me that wanted to see where it would end, but they were so like us. There must be something I can do to save them.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
