Truthful Tuesday Prompt

Truthful Tuesday

When dining out does the suburb quality of the food make up for substandard service, or does stellar service make up for substandard food?

I would have to say that I’ve not dined out in many fancy restaurants. I’m more of a Harvester girl myself. There is nothing wrong with a great salad, gammon, chips, peas, and pineapple. Especially if there is a cheesecake for afters.

I had a substandard meal in a restaurant I won’t mention for legal reasons. I ordered burger and chips, which arrived at my table burnt. It wasn’t a great experience. We had to wait over an hour and a half for the meal. Because of that we got the pudding for free. However, the jam on the cheesecake was a funny colour and on closer inspection had a little bit of green mixed in. She promptly gave it back and we were offered the meal at half price.

We shouldn’t have paid at all, but we were far too polite.

There is a line in my book – There is more to life than fine dining. I agree with that statement. Sometimes fish and chips, eaten on the promenade tastes better than eating the same thing at a restaurant.

I would choose a meal I enjoy, even if I had to wait for my food. What is the point of not waiting and the food not be to your taste. I’ve been lucky, and the food I’ve eaten in a restaurant has mostly been good quality. If I haven’t enjoyed a meal, I just don’t go there again.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
