#I Remember When

I remember when I didn’t want to own a dog, I was more of a cat person than anything. My first cat I inherited from my sister – Candy. Other cats we had along the way. Cindy, Chelsea, Cleo, Jess and Nyya.

When I was first persuaded to get a dog I still wasn’t sure, but when I held my first dog, Scamp, as a three week old puppy, I lost my heart. He is in the last picture and he opened his eyes for the first time when he was in my hand. He lived for fourteen years. When I moved, he moved. If I wanted to go to the toilet, he waited outside. When we lost him my heart broke, and I wasn’t sure if I would get another dog.

Then I met Titan, a tiny little pup, with a mischievous face. I was lost in his eyes and we acquired another puppy. He is three years old now, and during that time has chewed through my carpet, chew toys and tiles. His best friend is Luna, who is in the top picture. He cannot be trusted when there is food around. The kitchen door has to be locked when nobody is in there.

I would love to get another cat, but I have a feeling Titan would feel pushed out. That, and I wouldn’t trust him. He has that gleam in his eye when he sees a black cat while I we are out on a walk.

I wouldn’t do without him, he gives me the excuse to get out of the house. He is amazing, and I love him to pieces.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. I am so glad you joined in this week. Your photos are adorable. I have a good friend who is a magician with rescue animals and she has dogs and cats coexisting swimmingly together. It can be risky. My daughter has experienced two cats that grumpily live in toleratin of each other, but there is no love lost between the two. Animals do find a place to nestle into our hearts.
