Three years is a long time in our world. Bob had lived in another zoo only a few miles away, but the humans couldn’t meet up, so we went into our own isolation. My friend, my very best friend and life partner, brought me in for a hug.
When we finally let go, we had so much to tell each other.
His home had been closed because his zoo wasn’t making money, but that was good news for us. We could be a family again. His children couldn’t wait to meet him too. We could be a proper family again.
We would never be parted again, and soon the zoo was open for visitors. Humans are a strange creature, but we often flock by the entrance to see the funny clothes they wear. Sometimes we play the colour game with our children.
Whoever gets to twenty first wins a prize – the first pick of the food when the keepers feed us.
