A few years ago my sister-in-law looked into our family tree – she went back to the 1500’s and we found out some interesting things. There were three sisters, and they came from a rich family. Somewhere in Aylesbury there is the ancestral home, which belonged to them, but because they were female and not entitled to inherit their own home became they were women.
We also found out that my husband’s great grandfather emigrated from Germany in the 1900’s. I’m not sure why they felt the need to leave their home, but I can only guess. Nobody does that without there being some good reason.
I watch the series ”Who do you think you are” and wonder if you could see the real lives behind the names on the paper. That you would get to know someone from your own past in a way you never would from a piece of paper.
I’m interested in those three women, probably their only way out of their situation was to get married. Times have changed – thankfully. Women are able to make their own way in the world, but we have some way to go before we are equal.
Family Tree, that is a great take. It’s big business and very popular these days….we can get a feel for our ancestors but wouldn’t it be wonderful to meet and talk to them 💜💜💜

I never knew any of my grandparents, and would have loved to get to know them.
