My Double Take

Double Take – Saturday Mix, 8 January 2022

Their homophone sets this week are:

clack – chattering sound
claque – group hired to applaud, sycophants

and

click – ticking noise
clique– exclusive group

Click, clack, click, the two halves of the coconut made the sound of the horses hooves perfectly. Joe didn’t want to be part of that clique, he decided there was a much better way to represent that sound.

A claque of men and women clapped as he tapped the keys on a metal typewriter. They were even more impressed when he was able to make it canter, and gallop to the finish line.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
