What do you do to reduce or relieve stress in your life?
When I am stressed, which a bit like the Hulk, is most of the time, I tend to be more productive. I am unable just to sit watching the television, not doing anything. It makes me more stressed, rather than less stressed.
I like creating things, my latest a Christmas present from my son’s best friend. It was a three D model of a library. Full of intricate little models, you needed to follow the instructions. Seeing something being made in front of your eyes is very soothing. It makes me feel like I have achieved something worthwhile and focuses my brain on that task, and that task alone.
I also like painting by numbers, and again it is the end product, which allows me to feel less stressed. I’m not a natural at painting, drawing, and the last time I tried it looked like a five year old got hold of a paint brush. I am most proud of the picture of my old dog. It actually looks like him, and was designed by a Japanese company. I got some for my birthday, one of my granddaughter and my Shottie (German Shephard, Rottweiler). They were okay, but didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.
Walking my dog is great to relieve stress. It means I get to be in the fresh air and gives me time to think. There is something about being away from the house that helps to lessen my stress. When I went to the gym, that helped too, but I haven’t been in a while.
Nice post Diana. Hubby and I always found walking Maggie relaxing. We miss her, but still go for our walks and today I got trashed by three chows, a springer spaniel and a long haired pomeranian.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before we find another furry friend to share our lives.

Focusing on other things beside what causes your stress is always a good approach.
