Diets are something I have tried over the years since I was old enough to worry about my weight. Not that I had to when I was younger. My metabolism was really good and I could eat anything. It was great when I was a postie, and riding my bike five days a week. Nothing I ate would make me put on weight, and I could eat three chocolate bars in a day and nothing happen to my waist.
When I stopped being so active, then I started to put on weight. Again, when I had two children, I put on more weight. My highest weight was thirteen stone. When I moved I decided I wanted to do something about it.
I joined a well known slimming group with my daughter. I lost three stone and she lost three stone. She stopped when she was pregnant and I carried on going. I stopped last September, due to emotionally eating. I couldn’t pay money each week knowing I wasn’t following the letter of the law.
I was ten stone four, and have put on about a stone in about six months. I may go again because I’m struggling on my own to keep on track. I do miss the people and understanding we are all on the same scales.
One of my favourite meals from the group was Diet Cola Chicken. Also, I found that frozen raspberries are a great healthy treat, especially when eaten with low fat yoghurt. You could even have a fry up (grill up) without all the fat.
Do I have the recipe of Diet Cola Chicken? No, because my cooking skills aren’t that great. But if you take a trip to Iceland (the shop) and go down the Slimming World aisle, you will find it. It tastes delicious, and a great meal on a cold winter’s night. It is my sort of meal – throw it in the oven and wait for it to cook.
Thanks for this Diana. I’m with SW too and although I don’t attend group at the moment, I text in my weight every week instead. Our group leader is very good and this is acceptable due to Covid for now. Do you keep a food diary? I found it helps a lot to keep on track. Time is also a factor and I have a lot of that being retired so can shop around or cook from scratch.

I should do, but also I know where I am going wrong too. What I need to do is not buy the comfort food in the first place. I start the day with all the good intentions, but end the day with biscuits.
