Book Review – Evil Intent

Title – Evil Intent

Author – Jane Isaac

Not an Indie author, but an author I have read before. I read The Truth Will Out a few years ago, and after an author meet and greet in my local area, I was lucky enough to have a signed copy of her book.

Another brilliant sequel to her series of novels with DCI Helen Lavery.

When a young woman is murdered, and left with an inverted pentagram on her chest, she leads her team to find the suspect before he kills again. Liaising with the victim’s family, Helen is shown as easily likeable, strong, believable character. Her professional and personal life shown to interlink perfectly.

When she spots a familiar face, she is faced with the possibility of an old feud erupting, once again, into her personal life. Chilli Franks is meant to be in prison, but his double is walking the streets. Not sure of his intent, this is yet another twist in her brilliant plot.

Also in the viewpoint of the first victim’s mother, Marnie, we see another side of the investigation. The death of her daughter, after losing her adoptive son a few years earlier, is yet another blow for her family. To see the investigation through a mother’s eyes gives yet another reason to read this book.

I will give this book five out of five stars, and highly recommend anyone to read this latest sequel to Jane Isaac’s novels. It is extremely well written, full of surprising turns, and I cannot wait until Helen Lavery is once again in her lead role. The ending left me in no doubt that we will see her return again.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
