A Trip to Remember

LindaGHill is hear again to give us this week’s prompt. : “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “trip.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!”

I remember many trips, or holidays as a child.

My mum never wanted to go anywhere she had to cook, so we mostly stayed in guest houses. Bed, breakfast and an evening meal. Our days were filled with days on the beach. Mum going to bingo when she got fed up with the sun.

There were arcades, and prize bingo. We must have spent a lot of money to win something we could have brought for half the price, but that was part of the fun. These days, when I go on holiday, it is the two pence machines. There are little prizes on the coins, but it depends where you go as to how fair they are.

We used to go into a restaurant, eat burgers, and I was allowed a strawberry milkshake. Evenings were spent watching a show. Lulu, Rod Hull and Emu were some of things we saw.

Now I go on holiday with my own grown up children, it is something we all look forward to. This will be my first holiday in a couple of years. I tend to go self catering, in a holiday camp, because there are things to do in the evenings. Dancing, beaches, and long walks with our dogs.

I can’t wait.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
