An email from his gas provider, and it was enough to make Jules to want a drink. How much was it going up by? Forty nine percent rise in April. He was already paying eighty pound a month, now it was going to be nearly double. Budgeting was getting more and more stressed.
With all the other bills he needed to pay, his contact lenses would have to wait. He needed a holiday, from all this stress, but he couldn’t afford to go. He didn’t want to look at his gas bill.
He couldn’t afford to eat this month, and already shopped around for the best bargains. Something needed to be done, but unless he robbed a bank, something would have to change.
He used his calculator to figure out what he needed to stop paying for. Everything on his direct debits were needed. The only thing he could do was to sell his car, at least that way he could get fit by walking to work.
He wouldn’t need to put the heating on either.
A fact of life for many Diana.

The prices for everything are going through the roof. I think we’re all going to have tough choices to make ahead of us.
