Besties

I wrote this poem a few years ago for a writing class I attended at the time. It is about the day I met my bestie Theresa. It was my first day at secondary school, and I remember thinking, she looks friendly. I took a chance, and forty-five years later we are still besties.

A FRIEND IN TIME

My heart pounding in my chest,

Imagination to reveal the rest,

I crept towards this friendly face,

With an increasing fumbling grace,

Every moment caught in time,

Wishing courage would stay mine,

But several times I tried to turn,

But then knew I would never learn

That true friendship can overturn

My Fears…

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
