My 5 Favourite Vacation Activities

https://saltedcaramel670.wordpress.com/tag/saltedcaramelblog/ has given us her five favourite vacation activities.

When I go away on holiday, I enjoy visiting various places. One of my favourite holidays was Cornwall. We stayed in a tent, which the holiday camp provided. We went to a farm, where my four year old daughter had a run in with a goose. We told her to let go of the feed, which the goose wanted, and she wouldn’t. She still will avoid them, although her daughter is much more brave. On that same holiday we went to a wine/cider tasting place. Both myself and my mother-in-law took advantage of the free samples, and slept for most of the afternoon.

Another favourite place to go on holiday is the Isle of White. I always feel more relaxed there than anywhere else I have been. My mother-in-law loved her plants, and she was always taking cuttings. Even when we went to Osborne Cottage. There are some lovely beaches, farms, and shopping. Black Gang Chine was a theme park we visited, but more and more of it is being lost to the sea. At least half of the park we went to has now disappeared.

When I was courting my husband, and married, we visited Margate. We stayed in a bed and breakfast, and loved the couple who run it. Their food was brilliant, and we used to meet up with old friends, when we went there. We always went on the beach, and there was prize bingo. There was a theme park, and we used to go on the rides, or see live (UK) wrestlers. The last time we went to Margate my daughter was two years old.

Being on a staycation, we are going to paint some pottery, go to an animal park, swimming, mini theme park and walking the dogs. Even though we are not going away, we are going to have our days out.

My fifth would be holidays I went on when I was a child – We normally went to Margate, and stayed in a bed and breakfast. Mum said she cooked all year round, and wasn’t going to cook while she was on holiday. Which was fair enough. She spent most of her time playing bingo in the afternoon, while me and Dad stayed on the beach. In the evening we used to see various acts, including Lulu, Rod Hull and Emu.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
