Allowance

E’M’s word prompt today is notwithstandinghttps://emkingston.wordpress.com/category/random-word-challenge/

‘Notwithstanding my spending on sweets, toys and games, I think I deserve a raise in my allowance,’ Jack said, his hands firmly on his hips.

‘What are you willing to do for the extra money. I mean, my boss expects me to turn up on time, sell clothes, and make sure the store is tidy. What do you think you will need to do to earn that raise.

‘I could do the washing up, after dinner for a couple of days, and keep my room clean. Mummy I really need that new game, and my allowance isn’t enough to buy it.’

Tracey smiled, her son the expert in negotiation. ‘Okay, I will put up your allowance by five pounds a week.’

‘Thank you Mummy,’ Jack said.

His true reason for wanting his allowance to go up, wasn’t the game he suggested, but he wanted to thank his mum for being there for him. She had seen a silver locket in the jewellery store, and she deserved being spoilt.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
