‘Fancy a night out,’ Shelly’s friend said, ringing out the blue.

Clubs, they were noisy, cluttered places, with a lot of drunk people. She would much rather be at home, reading a good book, watching a good film, or even running a hot bubble bath.

Her friend needed her though; after a long, messy divorce, she was lonely.

‘I tell you what, we could have a girl’s night in. What would you say to a movie of your choice, popcorn, and a large bottle of wine.’

‘Sound’s great, I’ll bring two bottles.’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
