Back of the Fridge

This week’s prompt on a Friday, for https://lindaghill.com/2022/10/07/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-oct-8-2022/ is Back of the fridge

Barbara looked to the back of the fridge, in the hope there would be a lonely bar of chocolate there. It had been a long day, and she was struggling with the diet. She just wanted some comfort food. The only things in there were apples, eggs, and a pint of milk.

It would take time, but she could make an apple crumble – there was a way to have her comfort without adding it to her hips. The milk was skimmed, the eggs were free, and she could make the crumble with low fat margarine. She even had some sweetener she could use instead of sugar.

Half an hour later, she was sat at the table, tucking into a bowl full of memories. It wasn’t quite what her mum made but tasted good all the same. She went through the photo album on her table.

So many memories, and tomorrow she would show them to her daughter.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
