Allison started laughing hysterically when she found out that her former boyfriend was jailed for his part of the murder of his second wife. She was lucky. His treatment of her, of women in general and she had a lucky escape. A few years into her marriage he had gaslighted her. Said she was wrong when she assured him, she paid the bill or turned off the cooker.
It was the last straw when he said she was going to pick the children up from ballet lessons. A conversation with Tilly, and she realised her children were privy to his lies. She started recording their communication – found out exactly how she was manipulated into believing she was going mad.
His mental cruelty, amongst in his violence, and she tried to persuade her to leave. Stay in a women’s refuge, but she was too belittled by him. At least in jail, he could do no more damage.
